A product of Asbury Park, who better to give the keynote speech but Batman producer Michael Uslan? Author of the Boy Who Loved Batman, comic writer, and savior of the Batman franchise, Uslan returned to the boardwalk where he spent so much of his youth.

Photographer Seth Kushner and author Chris Irving with their book Leaping Tall Builds. They made so many things happen behind the scenes that made the con a success.

That’s me (Promoter, Cliff Galbraith) to the left of the photo with my hand over my mouth in shock as thousands of people outside begin to pour into Convention Hall at 10 am. I’m exhausted, excited, and overcome with emotion, as five months of planning and promoting a convention that almost didn’t happen.

image

The boardwalk repairs are just being completed on the day of the con. Hurricane Sandy’s damage still present in the plywood covering the glass doors to Convention Hall’s Grand Arcade pavilion. And as if to say all is well — the weather was warm and bright at the beach that day.

Just month’s earlier the same entrance to the Grand Arcade was being dug out from under three feet of sea and sand.

Spotlight On Bryan G. Brown

Bryan G. Brown pulls no puches with his Blueberry Boys of Asbury Park. We didn’t hit it off when we first met during the set-up of APCC2, but quickly realized we’d just gotten off on the wrong foot at a busy time that morning. We laughed it off and hugged it out. We’re all in it together, for the art for the comics. We get to meet so many talented people and make so many new friends. I’m very happy to have Bryan and Dre along for the ride.
